WE’RE MIDWAY THROUGH THE SUMMER!And boy oh boy have we seen the Lord work!!With a full month of Summer Camp 2026 behind us, there’s one thing all of our staff can agree on: it is sooo much fun getting to be a part of God’s Story through the lives of so many people and in such a variety of ways! God Knows EXACTLY who needs to be here and when!When we began praying for staffers this summer we already knew of a few who would be joining us, but we had no idea who the Lord would be sending to serve with us! This years “all-girl” staff has definitely been a familiar dynamic for the Hughes Household, and its been interesting to watch them all grow together. We’re certainly grateful for their desire to learn and hearts to serve; not to mention the sacrifices they (and their families) have made to give their entire summer to serve at Camp! Very few truly understand all that goes into providing the backdrop for the Summer Bible Camp experiences for hundreds of campers during each summer. Please consider sending a note of appreciation to thank this year’s staff for serving! STAFF ORIENTATION WEEK (June 1-5)Besides the lawncare, maintenance, and general upkeep of the property, the single largest responsibility (and time for our staff to truly shine) is serving in the Camp Kitchen.—- This young group of staffers did an amazing job in orientation!

Did you know that one of the things that separates Springs of Life Camp is our made-from scratch menu items? Sometimes you have to throw in a classic chicken sandwich or corn dog, hey it wouldn’t be Camp without it! But, generally all of our well balanced meals are custom created and food-allergy adapted by our Camp staff. Pictured here is Calleigh prepping chicken. Mind you, this is the first round. This week staffers prepped over 600 lbs. of fresh chicken for just the 1st week of campers! |

NC CEF - Christian Youth in Action Training (June 11-20)If you know anything at all about Child Evangelism Fellowship, then you already know that this was an amazing group of intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. Their time with us was spent around learning how to perfect a variety of ways to present the Gospel through Bible stores, missionary stories, games, and music - all for 1 purpose: to go back to their own communities and share Jesus with as many families as the Lord allows this summer!

What we LOVE about NC-CEF is how the leadership loves their kids! It’s beautiful to watch them disciple them on a level that they will never forget… Meet Ms. Renee - from the NC-CEF Home office. As this week’s mascot, she led the charge in overseeing Cabin Clean-Up all week while riding an inflatable chameleon! How she fit between the bunk beds during inspections is beyond me! Ms. Renee’s “Jesus Encounter Story” with CEF represents that of multitudes of lives impacted through their world-wide Good News Clubs. |

CYIA Chapel times were structured as training times where students would study the example of a leader with the intent to replicate the lesson in other environments. It was so good to watch these kids practice together during “free times” and then be “evaluated” as they presented with their leaders. The CYIA format is truly an inspiring and encouraging thing to watch and get to be a part of! |

Calvary Chapel Lynchburg - Middle School Students Camp (June 22-26)We had the privilege to serve with the CCL Middle School Students for the 2nd year in a row… and WHAT A WEEK IT WAS!!!

We’ve said it before, and this year wasn’t any different: Worship is at another level with the Calvary Chapel Youth! It was LIFE giving to worship Jesus with these kids! Pastor Josh led the evening Chapels throughout the week on Boys being Godly men and girls being Godly women. He and his leadership team were phenomenal examples throughout the whole week! |

What do you do when there’s a pool at Camp that we can’t use? We get creative with the slip-n-slide! Yep, that’s slip-n-slide kickball… and yes, it was super popular with the campers! In case you’re wondering: dawn dish detergent is good, but laundry detergent helps the kids bring home clean clothes :). |

CCL Middle Schoolers set an example for students for the rest of this summer. Yes, I know, middle school boys setting an example?! These kids are led differently…dare I say, intentionally? And to think, we get to do it all over again with the Calvary Chapel High School Students in just a matter of days! |

Fellowship Baptist Church - Willow Spring (June 28-July 4)In one way or another, FBC Willow Spring has been a part of Springs of Life Camp over lots of years. The energy they brought this year was no different than past years! To these campers, being here is almost like being at home… only this year there was a volcano!

With legacy AWANA Scholarship Camp in its DNA, this growing week is looking forward to adding more churches in Summer 2027. This year has proven to be another amazing week! |

Bible Quiz time is a highlight for many Campers and highlights the ability to truly process what’s being taught in Chapels, Cabin Devotions, and Scripture Memorization. |

This stage holds special meaning to different SoLC Alumni for lots of different reasons. To some its a beautiful surprise under the stars, but then to others its Team Skits and Talent Shows. Personally speaking, lightsaber duels are especially meaningful…. |

This week’s fearless leader and faithful friend, the one and only “Bubba C”! One of the biggest not-so-secrets to sharing Jesus with today’s youth is authenticity. Over and over again do we see groups come in with the evidence of God’s hand all-over their ministry through the efforts of tireless leaders who love what they get to do… |

POLL FOR OUR NEXT FUN-DRAISER TO GET THE SWIMMING POOL FINISHED FOR SUMMER 2027!

WE’RE NOT DONE YET!!Over the last few months we’ve begun the restoration of the swimming pool. With quotes as high as $500,000 to get things done, our on-the-ground team has decided that if we roll up our sleeves and get to work, we can save a LOT of money for the ministry. With that, there are still going to be some major expenses to get the pool up an running again. With concrete, fencing, supply/storage structure, plumbing, and plastering work; we’re close to $150,000 in total to have the pool up and running for SUMMER 2027! WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR IDEAS!!Over the years we have had several items donated to Springs of Life Camp for the purpose of raising funds for the restoration of the facilities. This year we have access to some pretty interesting items that have been given to us for the same purpose-specifically to fund the Swimming Pool restoration. What’s Mr. Richard been up to this summer?We’re glad you asked! Mr. Richard has been taking some much needed time to travel with family and catch up on things for other people in our town. Don’t worry, even though the’s definitely dropping in throughout the summer to help make sure everything is running smoothly for the campers :). Thank for praying for our on-the-ground ministry team during and on all sides of summer ministries! |
