Day One (Saturday 10/28/2023)

WELCOME TO Blossom Creek in Santa Barbara, Honduras!

NOTHING could have prepared us for this experience. In just 1 day, we have fallen in love with the people of this community. While we approached this service trip as an opportunity to help build with part of our Nehemiah Project team from Springs of Life, we walked into something so much bigger than we expected. As it turns out, just 2 years ago, this community was the site of one of the hardest impacted areas after Hurricane Eta. Not only did countless families lose their homes, but many lost their complete livelihood and it seems as if this entire area is in the midst of one big restoration story. The reality for our missionary friends at Blossom Creek is not only around the vision to build a Discipleship Training facility for national pastors, but the Lord is using them to create opportunities for the families of this beautiful community…and we get to be a small part of God’s bigger story.

At this level, the Blossom Creek team is staying busy with building projects and farming coffee beans to help generate the income necessary to fund some of the work here. Although there is no shortage of things to do around the property, It’s already clear that David and Megan Guevara weren’t called here to just build something. Even this morning before breakfast, we had a time of devotions together with the national team here on the ground.

As we began the day worshiping our God together on the backdrop of scenery that most only get to see on a screen, we began to develop relationships with these men (and some of their own families) that will undoubtedly last a lifetime on this side of eternity.

We look forward to seeing some of them tomorrow, while we spend the Sabbath Day resting in God’s goodness while doing things that celebrate the life He is allowing us to live!
